The author of Pride and Prejudice is Jane Austen. She was a novelist, a sister, and a philosopher. She was born on December 16, 1775 in England. She was the seventh child in a genteel family. Her father worked as a rector. In her house, all the children were encouraged to expand their minds through creative games and reading. Jane Austen attained her love for words at an early age and shared a close relationship with her older sister, Cassandra.
They were fortunate enough to attend boarding school for a short period of
time, where Jane become accustomed to higher society. At the age of 14, she wrote her first novel, Love and Friendship. The very next year she wrote another novel: The History of England. She was really beginning to blossom as an author. Neither novel was published during her lifetime. Jane also enjoyed playing the piano and dancing. She continued to write. One work, named Elinor and Marianne, would later be published as Sense and Sensibility. She also began writing First Impressions, later published as Pride and Prejudice. In 1801, Jane, Cassandra, and their parents moved to Bath. In 1805, her father died, throwing the three women into poverty. They moved from home to home, until they settled with Jane's brother, Edward. Between 1811 and 1816, she published Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Mansfield Park, and Pride and Prejudice. In 1816, Austen fell ill with Addisons disease. She continued writing novels, including Sandition, until her death on July 18, 1817.
